The layout can be used as a hand manual for the reviewers and PhD students&#8217; self-evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the table below we highlight the main components of the dissertation. Each component must contain specific information and expose certain characteristics to be evaluated as sufficient for the doctoral level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main criteria for evaluating doctoral dissertations are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> 1. Scientific significance of the research results and 2. Contribution of the candidate to the research. Additionally the following specific criteria are applied:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong> \u2022 Starting point of the research:<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 scientific level, formulation and motivation of the research problem;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 theoretical basis of the research and connection to the previous research;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 scientific, societal and practical relevance of the research;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong> \u2022 Research process:<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 command of the research field, knowledge and use of the literature;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 command, definition and clarity of the concepts;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 success of the choices and solutions during the research process and possibility to evaluate them;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 command and suitability of the methods;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 quality and carefulness of the research;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> \u2022 <strong>Research results:<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 new knowledge and the results gained in the research work;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 sufficiency of the research contribution of the candidate;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 consistent foundation of the results on the data;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 significance of the research results in the own research field;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 coherence, stylistic and linguistic form of the presentation;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> \u2022 <strong>Evaluation criteria concerning only the doctoral dissertations:<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p> \u25e6 in an article-based dissertation: quality of the publications<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More criteria for evaluating doctoral dissertations are laid out in the table below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"735\" src=\"http:\/\/iatels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dessartation-evaluation-roadmap.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1096\" srcset=\"http:\/\/iatels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dessartation-evaluation-roadmap.png 683w, http:\/\/iatels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dessartation-evaluation-roadmap-279x300.png 279w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From our research team of IATELS we wish success to all our colleagues in their academic endeavours and great achievements in their careers!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Colleagues, To your attention we would like to provide you with the guidelines for evaluating doctoral dissertations.
